Drug Guide

Wondering about what drugs can do for you?
People who use drugs usually say that nothing bad will happen to them and that drugs are the coolest thing in their lives.

Some say that using drugs made them fit in better with the "in" cliques and have more fun.
But that usually doesn't last very long, because one never stops trying to achieve the same high as the very first one; therefore harder drugs become very attractive and also very dangerous.

The problem? Using drugs increases the risk of addiction and in some cases death due to an overdose.
Drugs eventually ruin health, destroy lives, or force users to drop out of school. Drugs actually isolate users from family and friends.

The same crowd that users thought was their friends can actually abandon them once they become addicted to drugs. It is not uncommon for addicts to do anything to get drugs, and in most cases theft becomes a necessity to support their habit.

Users begin stealing from family and friends and eventually engage in hard-core criminal activities such as armed robbery and burglary.

Drug users also engage in risk-taking behaviors such as having unsafe sex and putting their lives and other people's lives in danger while on the road.

Of course it's difficult to imagine that there are so many risk factors involved when peer pressure seems so tempting. People disregard the risks and often think that they can get out of it as easily as they got into it, but this is most often not the case.

Addiction is a disease and there is no cure. However, there are treatment programs, where drug addicts can recover. Therapy programs are available in your current community to counteract the power of addiction.

Some people say they love getting high and drugs seem to be fun while they are using them, but usually they don't laugh much when they are faced with diseases, incarceration, or an array of difficulties as a result of addiction.
